To be honest, I believe the Odin statue represents one of the best pieces ever produced by Bowen Design and, more in general, among all Marvel statues! The abundance and care of details, the brilliance of painting and the majesty of the whole figure are simply out of ordinary and make this statue really awesome! The piece was sculpted by Randy Bowen and released in 2008, with an edition size of 1500 samples. The sovereign of Asgard is erect in a museum, static pose, with the right arm raised and the left bent, holding a small scepter and a long trident, respectively. The figure is highly characterized by the sumptuous suit of the Gods' Father, exhibiting a spectacular blue background color with a light metallic tone and a sort of waistcoat acting as an armor, enriched by an impressive number of astonishing decorations. The waistcoat in background shows a well-refined texture of small circles carved in relief, with a gold-black emblem centered on chest and three large leather strips on back, forming a triangular support structure; two large shrugs with thick edges embellish the shoulders and, on the right one, it is possible to distinguish a stylized wild boar. A belt wraps the God's waistline: its shape is larger on front (where another beautiful coat of arms is centered in good evidence) and smaller on back, while many strips of leather fabric start at bottom and seem to be moved by the wind. The legs are partially covered by a semi-rigid kilt embellished, on front and back, with many golden elements; a long sheathed sword is visible on the right flank, while the knees are protected by two rounded plates. Both gloves and boots are characterized by tall, very thick and rigid patches, covering the calves and forearms, equipped with lateral decorations showing little and curved horns. Note the great care paid to details: the scepter is embellished with a small crystal sphere at one end, the sword hilt shows a stylized face of an animal skull, the top of the trident exhibits a centered emblem and a patch carved in relief and all blue patches on legs and arms are emphasized by horizontal lines which enhance their visual impact. The head of Odin is nothing short of awesome! The hero wears a royal headdress, with two rigid, tall and saw-toothed flaps placed back and two curved, very attractive horns, symmetrically located on the forehead. A long and thick white beard falls down on the chest and up to the shoulder, while the right eys is covered with the typical black eye-patch and a huge circular ring embellishes the left ear. Note the faithfulness to the Comics' tables, the perfect wrinkles sculpted on the face and the very well colored blue eye, which gives an austere and regal expressiveness to the father of Thor! The whole piece is completed by a fine base, depicting a circular pedestal with a stone floor (where the initials of Randy Bowen stand out on back), and the two black ravens (Huginn and Muninn), which the God's Father of the Scandinavian mythology is always represented with. In conclusion, a stunning collectible from Bowen Design and an unmissable statue to display together with Thor and Loki: simply a must-have for all fans of the Marvel Universe!
